What it does#
Media partners is where you connect the advertising networks that will attribute your installs — principally the self-attributing networks, whose claims appear on Self-attributing networks. Each connection shows its status, and can be tested.
When to use it#
Before running any paid acquisition. This is the connection step everything else in Attribution depends on: without a connected partner there is nothing to attribute installs to, and every paid install lands as unattributed.
Come back when a partner's numbers stop agreeing with yours — the first thing to check is whether the connection is still live.
Workflow#
Connect the network before the campaign starts
Attribution is not retroactive. Installs that arrive before the connection exists cannot be claimed afterwards.
Verify the connection
A partner that appears connected and is not is the worst state — every report looks plausible and undercounts.
Map your conversion events next
A connected partner receiving only installs optimises for installs. See Partner event mapping.
Check status periodically
Credentials expire and partners revoke them. A silently dropped connection degrades your data with no error anywhere.
Permissions and prerequisites#
Requires an administrative or developer role, and credentials from the partner. Connections are recorded in the audit log.
Limits and edge cases#
Attribution starts at connection time. No backfill.
Each partner attributes by its own rules, so two partners can claim the same install and both be internally consistent.
A revoked credential fails silently from the dashboard's point of view — check status rather than assuming.
Not all partners are self-attributing. Some rely on click-based attribution instead.
Troubleshooting#
Connected but no installs attributed. Confirm campaigns are actually running, then check that the connection test passes.
Partner claims installs we do not see. Their attribution window or view-through rules are wider than yours. Compare trends rather than totals.
Connection dropped. The credential was revoked or expired. Reconnect.
Where the data comes from#
Attribution starts when the connection is made — installs that arrive before it cannot be claimed afterwards.
