Channels lives in the Marketing area of the dashboard, under Acquisition.

What it does#

Installs and revenue grouped by channel — the highest level of acquisition aggregation, above campaign and source.

It is one of a family of rollups over the same attributed data, each grouping by a different dimension:

When to use it#

For budget conversations. Channel is the level at which acquisition decisions are actually made — you move money between paid social and paid search, not between two ad sets. Campaign-level data is too noisy for that decision and source-level too granular.

Workflow#

  1. Read revenue per install, not installs

The channel with the most installs is frequently the cheapest and the least valuable. Volume is not the metric.

  2. Bring in spend

Channels here reports installs and revenue. For the cost side and ROAS, use Cost & ROAS.

  3. Check how channels are being classified

On web, channel assignment follows your own rules — see Channel grouping. If a channel looks wrong, the rule is the thing to fix.

  4. Treat unattributed separately from organic

They are not the same, and conflating them makes organic look better than it is.

Permissions and prerequisites#

Requires attribution to be matching. Without it every install is unattributed and this page has one row.

Limits and edge cases#

  • Only as good as attribution. Coverage undercounts, unevenly by platform — see Attribution.

  • Channel is a classification, not a fact. On web it comes from your grouping rules; changing them changes the report.

  • Revenue is client-reported and attribution-dependent, so a channel's revenue is a floor.

  • No spend here. ROAS requires the business page.

Troubleshooting#

Everything in one channel. Attribution is not matching, or all traffic genuinely arrives through one route. Check attribution status first.

A channel is missing. No attributed installs in the window, or its traffic is being classified into a different channel by your rules.
